Special, Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL)

The Special Political and Decolonization Committee deals with issues under its mission to discuss “decolonization-related agenda items”, while dealing with a wide range of political issues, including UN peacekeeping.

One of the General Assembly’s six committees, the SPECPOL Committee is tasked with dealing with a variety of international political concerns. Regarding the role of civil society in post-conflict peacebuilding; civil society organizations has vital contribution in post-conflict peace-building by promoting social cohesion, supporting transitional justice, and fostering community-led development.
