Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM)

The Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Committee (SOCHUM) addresses issues related to the promotion and protection of human rights, humanitarian assistance, and social development, while focusing on the well-being and dignity of individuals and communities worldwide.

As one of the six main committees of the General Assembly, SOCHUM is responsible for discussing global humanitarian and social challenges. In the context of post-conflict peacebuilding, the committee emphasizes the importance of civil society, as civil society organizations play a crucial role in protecting human rights, supporting vulnerable populations, strengthening social cohesion, and facilitating reconciliation through community-based initiatives.
